Family pets through the years.

My mothers family were all farmers right back to when they came from Normandy in France to England.

My sister and i are the first generation to not be farmers. We still have the love and respect for animals. To not have any animals in a house would seem like it not to be a home.In the early 1950`s there was two kittens that suddenly appeared on our back door step wanting to be fed. To this day we dont know where they came from . One was a tabby cat and the other one was a ginger cat. Mum took them in and gave them some food and milk. In the morning the back door was opened and the ginger kitten went off , never to be seen again. The tabby one stayed around and his name was Timmy after the dog in the Famous Five stories by Enid Bylton. He was to live until the human age of 21years.I left Blisworth to get married and Timmy stayed with mum and dad . I really missed him. When making phone calls to my then boyfriend from the phone box , one day i found a kitten in abox in the phone box. i took it home and she lived with mum and dad. After my grandfather Fred Gulliver died in 1975 the farm was sold and one old cat named Gladys came to live with mum and dad. she had been named after her owner at Gayton post office .Gladys the cat was a ginger tortishell and a big loving cat. after the death of some of the cats

we brought a large black cat from harlestone and drove him home in a 3 wheeled car, an isseta.his name was Sooty and became my fathers cat. my father also had sally the dog and ben the sheepdog

the last cat my parents had was a tabby one from west hunsbury her name was daisy, she came to live with susan for the rest of her life.at one time there was 3 dogs ,and four cats in her care.

Daisy dog who died 24th july 2015

A blog written after Daisy died describes how the two cats Rosie and Benny coped with her death.

Rosie walked around the house and sniffed out where daisy died on the carpet. she knew daisy had gone. Benny was lost and looking for his doggy friend everywhere .I cuddled him and tried telling him she had gone to doggy heaven garden and didn't hurt any more.

the next evening Benny was back in the front room looking to say nite nite to her as she stayed down stairs. I removed all things belonging to daisy and slowly he knew she wasn't coming back. The two cats have now become more protective of Susan their owner.
