Snow Cake
8oz caster sugar
8oz butter
1 lb cornflour
5 egg whites
essence of almond or lemon
beat all together for 20 mins.
bake in slow oven for 30 mins
when cold cut into squares

Butterscotch.
1lb sugar
3oz butter
2oz treacle. 4 drops of lemon essence
boil together. when nearly done add 2 tablespoons of vinegar
pour into greased tin and leave to cool. mark in squares

Jam Sandwich.
2 cups flour
5oz butter
3oz sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vinegar
1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate soda

Turkish Delight. A CHRISTMAS TREAT .
Dissolve quarter of 1lb of leaf gelatine in hot water,stirring.
juice of 4 lemons dessert spoon rose water
4 lb sugar
boil for 10 mins
stir well and pour into greased tins
when set cut in to cubes and dust in icing sugar
Vegetable marrow chutney

4lb marrow
peeled, cut up and de seeded.
1 1/2 oz ginger,mustard,tumeric
4 oz sugar
3 cloves,chopped
3 shallots, chopped
3 chillies, chopped de seeded
3 pints vinegar
soak all ingredients
cook in preserving pan for 45mins until cooked.
store in warmed bottles with sealed lids
Cheese pudding

1 cup milk
1 egg
2oz grated cheese
1 teaspoonful flour
mix all together. add flour
cook in pie dish for 10-15 mins
medium oven.
