KNIGHTLEY of FAWSLEY HALL NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

Knightley Family

The early members of the Knightley family came from Normandy and settled in Staffordshire. Many of them marrying into families who had also come over with William the Conqueror in 1066. the kings reward to them for helping him secure lands in England was to give them land and manor houses.

The last member of the family of KNIGHTLEYS to live in Fawsley Hall was Lady Louisa Knightley . After her death the house was left  and some contents sold off. the house was left derelict. The main hall roof fell in and a local man  rented the house to store timber .Mr WJ Bosworth who lived in a near by village  started work for the man and remembered wood being stored in the hall in the early 1960`s . He had access to the main hall and did see the coat of arms. It contained  a coat of arms of the GOLAFRE. It wasn't to be for many years later that I would find the connection to my mothers paternal family. They had also been sheep farmers .With lots of restoration the old house has become a very fine hotel and catering experience. Set in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside .Surrounded by fields and lakes and trees. With in walking distance is the church which is still used for services and weddings. Many of the Knightley family are buried there.

on researching the family tree early on . I came across some of the family emigrated from Suffolk . Essex to USA. The first William Knightley had married Dorothy Gulafre and it was her brother John Gulafre that  the ROCKEFELLER ,BUSH.BILL GATES families came from. Many of the families had lived in and around Oxfordshire England. In the next USA election for a president JEB BUSH is standing .
